How to use Image Compressor
Add one or more images, select an output format and quality, then compress. Compare the original and output sizes before downloading each result.
Supported workflow and limitations
Lossy formats such as JPEG and WebP can reduce visual quality. PNG compression through the browser canvas may not reduce every image. Animated images are processed as a still frame in browsers that decode them that way.
Privacy and file handling
Your selected files are processed in your browser. ProTools does not require you to upload them to a document-processing server. Required JavaScript libraries and language data may be downloaded from their respective CDNs. Analytics and advertising are controlled separately by your cookie preferences.
Frequently asked questions
Does compression happen online or locally?
The browser decodes and re-encodes the image on your device. Files are not uploaded to a ProTools image-processing server.
Which format gives the smallest file?
WebP often provides a useful quality-to-size balance, while JPEG is widely compatible. Results depend on image content and quality settings.
Can I compress several images?
Yes. Select multiple images and process them in one batch.
